Resourcing it

Posted on by Peter van der Sluijs

The conclusion of the first Social Media Action Day (held 23 November) was that getting adequate resources to support a Social Media programme is still a huge challenge for many organisations.

The answer is to put together a structured Digital Strategy that covers:

  • Where you are
  • Where you want to get to
  • How you’re going to get there

and includes measureable and realistic targets. An audit of your current online profile against key competitors can be compiled in a morning’s focussed work. Using a tool like Groundswell, you can analyse your audience and understand their online behaviour. This allows you to move ahead and set yourself some objectives and define the tactics you will use.   Finally, you should set yourself some measurable objectives.

Go to your boss with this strategy and (s)he’ll sign off the resources you need to make it happen without a whimper. Promise!

SMAD 2: Neesham’s next Social Media Action Day will be held in February. Email Peter van der Sluijs to be notified of the date.
